The fight has been billed as a battle to prove who the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. Hatton (45-1, 32 KOs), the junior welterweight champion, is undefeated at the 140-pound division, while Pacquiao (48-3-2, 36
Pacquiao, a native Filipino, is currently just the fourth fighter in boxing history to have a world title in five divisions, joining Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns and Floyd Mayweather Jr., the only person to defeat Hatton.
A win for Pacquiao would give him a world title in a record-tying sixth weight division: flyweight, junior featherweight, featherweight, junior lightweight, lightweight and junior welterweight. However, a win would also allow him to become the first boxer in history to claim a lineal title in four divisions (112, 126, 130 and 140).
The undercard will include junior lightweights Humberto Soto (47-7-2, 30 KOs) vs. Benoit Gaudet (20-1, 7 KOs), for Soto's junior lightweight title; middleweights Daniel Jacobs (15-0, 14 KOs) vs. Michael Walker (19-1-2, 12 KOs) in an eight-round bout; middleweights Matvey Korobov (4-0, 4 KOs) vs. Anthony Bartinelli (20-12-2, 13 KOs), 4 rounds; and junior middleweights Erislandy Lara (4-0, 3 KOs) vs. Chris Gray (11-7, 1 KO), 4 rounds.
