Floyd Mayweather Jr. has agreed to come out of a brief retirement and will step back into the ring to fight lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez in July.
Mayweather retired with a perfect 39-0 professional record after stopping Ricky Hatton in the 10th round of a light welterweight bout in Dec. 2007. Many suspect that if Hatton is able to upset Manny Pacquiao in their fight May 2 and Mayweather stops Marquez in July then a rematch between the two could be in the works.
While Mayweather has held titles in five divisions Marquez has proven to be capable of moving up as well having been a champion in three divisions. Marquez has posted a 50-4-1 mark over his career with one of those losses coming at the hands of Pacquiao. The draw was also against Pacquiao.
