Wife of Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi Confirms Plans for Divorce

The wife of Italian Prime Minister Silivio Berlusconi has confirmed reports that she will file for divorce and end their 19 year marriage.

According to several accounts Veronica Lario was incensed by her husband’s recent attendance at a birthday party for an 18-year-old female friend. The PM’s wife was said to have remarked, “That’s enough, I cannot remain with a man who consorts with minors.”

There have been a number of public clashes between the married couple, many of which have involved his flirtatious nature around women. Prior to hearing about her husband’s attendance at the birthday party Lario had publicly criticized Berlusconi’s decision to back certain female candidates for government positions.
