In a private hearing on Wednesday, an Aruban judge ruled authorities can hold Gary Giordano for two more months to continue to question him about the disappearance of Robyn Gardner. Giordano, 50, was taken into custody last month after he told police Gardner, 35, disappeared while they snorkeling. The Maryland businessman has not been charged.
Gardner disappeared in the water behind Nanki Country Club on August 2, according to Giordano. Giordano told police that he motioned for Gardner to return to the beach, but when he reached land she was not behind him. Giordano was detained on August 5 and has been in police custody since. Authorities say Giordano made inconsistent statements during questioning.
The Natalee Holloway Resource Center describes Gardner as “5'5" and 120 pounds, with blond hair and brown eyes.” “She has tattoos on her left arm (back of her shoulder to her elbow), her rib cage, and her right bicep,” the center added.
The center is named for the Alabama teen that disappeared in Aruba in 2005. No traces of Holloway were ever found.
