Wedding Party in Southeastern Turkey Attacked, 41 Killed

At least 41 people attending a wedding party in southeastern Turkey have been killed after a group of unknown assailants launched an attack with automatic weapons and bombs.

The attack was said to have been carried out close to the town of Mardin near the border with Syria, an area in which has seen consistent fighting between government troops and Kurdish rebels.

For the past 25 years rebels have fought for greater independence with more than 40,000 deaths being attributed to that fight.
