Cigars International announces an expanded selection of “The Unsmokeables,” a category devoted to $19.99 bundles that deliver closeout savings on handmade cigars. Featuring flavor profiles ranging from abominable and ghastly to odious, offensive and worse – not exactly an appealing sales pitch. These cigars can’t really be that bad, can they?
Actually they can. With a roster of brand names along the lines of Don Brotto, Havana Night Club, and Dark Shark, it’s nearly unanimous that The Unsmokeables would never be confused with Gurkha, Rocky Patel, Cohiba, Montecristo, Perdomo, Oliva or Arturo Fuente – but nonetheless there are a few Americans that have claimed The Unsmokeables are actually tolerable. One such individual is CI Representative Bob Mulhern who noted, “I’m unclear why some of the brands in The Unsmokeables category are described in the CI catalog as they are. Take Don Brotto for instance – one of my personal faves. Yet the description reads, “This medium-bodied smoke – despite its 80-cent price tag – can only be justified if you’re knee-deep in the sauce and not thinking straight.” (This writer observed a half empty bottle of Jameson and empty six-pack of Schlitz on Bob’s desk during the interview.)
So if you’re looking for an inexpensive cigar and absolutely nothing more, browse through The Unsmokeables category. But, if you shy away from objectionable cigars – check out the thousands upon thousands of other options at Cigars International.
