Hollywood Star Dom DeLuise Dies at 75

Hollywood actor, comedian, chef and writer Dom DeLuise passed away at a Los Angeles hospital on Monday night after suffering from kidney failure and respiratory problems. DeLuise was 75.

DeLuise became a regular on TV during the 1960s, appearing on “The Entertainers” numerous times and then made his way onto the big screen as he became a fixture in Mel Brooks films including Blazing Sadles, History of the World, Part 1, Space Balls and Robin Hood: Men in Tights.

Perhaps DeLuise will best be remembered for his role alongside Burt Reynolds in the cult classic “The Cannonball Run.” DeLuise partnered with Reynolds in a number of other films including “Smokey and the Bandit II” and “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.”

DeLuise did much more than just act as he evolved into an author as well, writing several children’s books as well as cookbooks, a perfect complement to his work as a chef.
