NBA Western Conference Semifinals Schedule: Denver Nuggets Look for 2-0 Lead as the Host Dallas Mavericks

While the Denver Nuggets managed to secure a 109-95 Game 1 victory over the Dallas Mavericks last Sunday the final score was hardly an indicator of how close the game actually was. Without a big performance from Chauncey Billups the Nuggets had to rely on big games from Nene, Chris Andersen and J.R. Smith before Carmelo Anthony took over in the final frame.

Dallas no doubt feels like they let one slip away and will need to play with added intensity on Tuesday to avoid falling into an 0-2 hole. They will need a sustained effort from Dirk Nowitzki and Josh Howard as well as a big game from Jason Terry if they are to even the series. The Mavericks will also need Jason Kidd to take care of the ball better than he did in Game 1 where he turned it over eight times while dealing just four assists.

The Nuggets have been one of the hottest teams in the NBA and are considered a legitimate threat in the West but they’ll need to continue to hold serve on their own court where they posted a 33-8 mark during the regular season. That would appear to be a foregone conclusion against the Mavs as they were just 18-23 on the road during the regular season but they managed to knock off the San Antonio Spurs twice in the first round and haven’t shown any signs of being intimidated.

Tip-off is set for 10:30 p.m. ET.
