Bobbi DePorter, the president of SuperCamp teen academic camps and Quantum Learning Network, offers parents of teens advice on how to help their teens succeed in these challenging times.
In an article published in this month's issue of Healthy, Wealthy & Wise, Ms. DePorter answers four questions parents are asking regarding helping their teens cope with what's going on in the world, guiding their teens through these difficult times, strengthening the connection with their teens, and instilling core values that will sustain and build a foundation for their teens.
Ms. DePorter has graduated over 50,000 students from her academic summer camps since launching them in 1982. Her college prep camps for teens have helped the majority of students improve their grades and specific learning skills that contribute to success throughout high school and at the college level.
Her summer academic camps for middle school students help prepare them for success at the high school level with both learning and life skills, which contribute to better communication skills, as well as increasing the confidence and motivation of most program participants.
SuperCamp is a residential summer enrichment program held on seven college campuses for 10 days. Students live on-campus, sleeping in dorms, eating in the school cafeterias, and experiencing the college atmosphere while gaining powerful new skills that help them in school and life.
Many students remark that the experience was the best ten days of their life. Parents of SuperCamp grads have the same positive response. Kathy Shoemaker, a grad parent and school counselor says, "I am a huge fan of SuperCamp. My son Mark went for 4 years. It had a huge impact on his life."
May is the most popular month for parents to enroll their students and SuperCamp's sessions are filling up, so parents are urged to investigate the program now by visiting the website or calling an enrollment specialist at 800-285-3276.
