NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs Schedule: Orlando Magic Host Boston Celtics, Look for Series Lead

The Orlando Magic return to their home court on Friday night with their best-of-seven Eastern Conference playoff series with the Boston Celtics tied at a game apiece. While the Magic will be getting Courtney Lee back on the court after a fractured sinus they will also have to find a way to overcome the loss of Rafer Alston who was suspended one game for a head slap he delivered on Eddie House in Game 2.

Orlando jumped to a 1-0 lead in the series after an impressive Game 1 in which they managed to take advantage of a poor shooting night from the Celtics. Game 2 was a different story as Boston appeared to have their game back in order as Rajon Rondo recorded his third triple-double of the playoffs and Eddie House poured in 31 points to even the series.

Of course the big news from Game 2 was Rafer Alston and his run-in with House. That head slap has now cost him one game and with Courtney Lee just now returning to action the Magic could have some trouble in the backcourt. Alston has been the main distributor on offense and now Anthony Johnson will be called upon to take that role. Fortunately for Orlando he has plenty of options as Rashard Lewis, Hedo Turkoglu and Dwight Howard are all viable threats and the emergence of J.J. Redick beyond the three-point line has presented problems for the Celtics defense.

While Boston split at home they know that their Game 1 loss was due in large part to a collapse from Rondo and Ray Allen, something that won’t likely happen again in the series. Boston won’t be intimidated by playing on the road as they posted a 27-14 mark away from TD Banknorth Garden during the regular season. The two teams split their four games during the regular season with each team grabbing a win on the others court.

Tip-off for Thursday night’s game is set for 7:00 p.m. ET.
