Co-creator and promoter of Woodstock 1969 Artie Kornfeld has committed to a celebration of the Woodstock 40th anniversary at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco called West Fest. The free concert will be the largest Woodstock celebration of the summer. It will include environmental awareness, peace, poetry, and of course music. The free concert is a must attend for Woodstock enthusiasts.
The Heroes of Woodstock tour beginning in June will tour the country and feature artists such as Jefferson Starship, Canned Heat, Ten Years After, Big Brother the Holding Company, and Country Joe McDonald. The tour will hit the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, the original Woodstock 69 site, on August 15th as well. Tickets for the Bethel, NY event went on sale May 8 and are expected to sell out quickly.
For Midwest Woodstock fans, A Woodstock Tribute will be held on August 14th and 15th at Galt Airport in McHenry County, IL. The tribute will feature the top Woodstock artist cover bands playing all of your favorites.
WoodFest 2009 will take place on August 14th-16th at The Washita Hideaway in Davis, Oklahoma. Get ready for 3 days of peace, music, environmental awareness, and butterflies. Although there is no official confirmation, President Obama and Al Gore has been asked to speak at the festival.
