Basketball Legend Bill Russell shares with the world his fondest memories and experiences with legendary Boston Celtics coach Red Auerbach in his new book titled Red and Me. The book tells the story of Auebach, the Jewish outsider in Irish Boston, who immediately took to the nations very first prominent black basketball star from Oakland via Louisiana. There respect for one another grew a lifelong friendship that made sports history and left a legacy for athletes and coaches to follow for years to come. Together the two won 11 championships in 13 years, a record still unmatched.
This book is a must read especially due to the fact that Bill Russell is so private. When Auerbach passed away in 2006 he made no public statements. Bill Russell up until 11 years ago rarely even signed autographs.
