The People’s Clinic in Orlando Receives Donation from Attorney John Morgan

Morgan & Morgan is pleased to announce that the Destiny Foundation of Central Florida and Attorney John Morgan have partnered to establish The People's Clinic, which celebrated its grand opening on April 20, 2009. Located in Orlando, The People’s Clinic provides uninsured children with free medical care and health services.

The People's Clinic is the newest non-profit ministry developed by pastor Scott George, founder of the Destiny Foundation of Central Florida. Although the facility for the clinic was built by volunteers more than a year ago, it was only able to operate one day a month because it lacked the funds to cover a full-time medical staff. There was a great demand for the free medical services it provided, however, as Florida has the third-highest rate of uninsured children in the nation. After learning about Scott’s work on behalf of Central Florida's underprivileged residents, John Morgan and his wife Ultima (of the law firm Morgan & Morgan) generously donated $500,000 so that the clinic could extend its hours of operation.

This donation will cover the salary of a family physician, a nurse practitioner, and a specialist, who will perform developmental screenings and mental health screenings. The People's Clinic will also provide well-child physicals, immunizations, acute treatment for illnesses, vision care, and dental services for children in need. In addition, wellness education on topics such as healthy cooking, infant care, parenting support, childhood obesity, diabetes, and asthma will be provided by medical staff at the clinic. The clinic will provide care for as many as 10,000 children a year.
