Lockport High School on Lockdown, Toxic Substance Found

A high school near Chicago is on lockdown after a plastic bottle containing possible toxic substances was found in a hallway.

School district officials say the bottle released black smoke and possible chemicals in a hallway at Lockport Township High School, exposing 9 students and 1 staff members to the substance. Officials are calling the bottle a "chemical improvised device.”

The school is placed on lockdown while police and the fire department conduct a search. Police have no suspects in the incident.

After school activities were canceled today. School will resume Tuesday.
