The D.I.Y. programmer is called the Virtual Technician™ , and is a tool that places the ability to make programming adjustments to hearing aids in the hands of the consumer. Until now this was done at the office of a hearing aid dealer or audiologist. Virtual Technician™ sets a new standard for convenience in the ownership and use of hearing instruments by allowing a hearing aid purchase to be made directly from the manufacturer and programmed either by the wearer or with remote assistance directly over the web. Virtual Technician™ is very user friendly and extremely convenient since program adjustments can now be made in the privacy of the customer’s home or office. The Virtual Technician™ programmer is free with the purchase of a pair of Virtual Technician™ compatible instruments. Compatible styles include bte hearing aids, Open Fit Hearing Aids and include hearing aid batteries with each order. A complete hearing test must be completed prior to any order.
All hearing instrument manufacturers have unique programming software and hardware that is provided only to the professionals who sell their products. Without sacrificing accuracy or flexibility, the new software and hardware is operated easily by the wearer of Virtual Technician™ compatible instruments. The programmer can be used by anyone with a personal computer where program adjustments can be performed by the listener on their own instruments. If they wish they can request assistance with their adjustments by contacting the audiology department and their hearing aids can be adjusted by a staff Audiologists directly over the web.
