Parent Summer Camp A Big Hit

SuperCamp, one of the leading summer academic camps for students in high school and middle school, is providing parents with an opportunity to get an inside look at the training and learning that takes place at the ten-day program.

SuperCamp's Parent Weekend is a three-day program held on college campuses where the SuperCamp academic summer camps operate. At Parent Weekend, parents gain insight as to the Quantum Learning methods used by SuperCamp staff and they receive hands-on training in some of the learning skills and life skills their sons and daughters are taught.

Like SuperCamp, Parent Weekend's programs are residential summer camps, meaning the parents, like the students, stay on campus for the duration of the program. The parents find this brief time together to be a bonding experience with each other and enlightening in terms of the new skills they acquire.

A big takeaway for most of the parents who participate in the program is how they can communicate more effectively with their kids. This is especially true for parents of teens. Morgan Brawner, a parent who attended Parent Weekend, had this to say, “It is an absolute must, life-changing experience. You’ll walk away a changed person.”

While at Parent Weekend, the parents do not interact with their kids. On day three, however, they come together for the emotional, high energy graduation ceremony.

In 2009, Parent Weekend is at three colleges: Cornell, Wake Forest and Cal State San Marcos. More information is available at SuperCamp.com and by calling 800-285-3276.
