NBA Scores Eastern Conference Playoffs: Cleveland Cavaliers Sweep Atlanta Hawks to Advance, Face Winner of Boston and Orlando series

LeBron James scored 27 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and handed out 8 assists, Delonte West added 21 points and 6 dimes and Zydrunas Ilgauskas finished with 14 points and 10 boards as the Cleveland Cavaliers knocked off the Atlanta Hawks 84-74 on Monday night to complete their second consecutive sweep and advance to the Eastern Conference finals where they will face the winner of the Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic series.

The Cavaliers jumped out to a 12-6 advantage following a three-pointer from LeBron but the Hawks inched their way back and Joe Johnson started a 10-0 run to close the frame that put Atlanta in front 22-15 heading into the second. Atlanta’s lead was short lived though as the Cavaliers held the Hawks scoreless during a three-minute stretch and they reclaimed the advantage 26-24. Atlanta wouldn’t fold though and they managed to grab a few one-point leads before Ilgauskas buried a triple that led to a Cleveland 40-38 halftime lead.

Cleveland extended their lead to 48-38 in the third as Atlanta opened cold but a 10-2 run midway through the frame brought them to within 52-50 but the Cavs wouldn’t let them climb over the hump as they carried a 62-57 advantage into the fourth. Once again Atlanta pulled to within two but a layup from West and a triple from LeBron put them in a seven-point hole and then an Ilgauskas free-throw put the score at 70-62 with just under six minutes left. Atlanta pulled to within four following a Mike Bibby three-pointer and a free-throw from Zaza Pachulia but then West hit a three-pointer to push the lead to 73-66 and after Josh Smith hit a jumper to pull the Hawks to within 73-68 Williams ended any comeback hope with a three-pointer.
