VIDEO: Teen Attacks Bus Driver, Sent to Psychiatric Facility

A Michigan teenager who brutally attacked a bus driver was sentenced Tuesday on charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm.

A Kalamazoo County Circuit judge made the 16-year-old boy a ward of the court and determined he will be treated at a residential psychiatric facility as he is a threat and is unable to control his violent impulses. The teen, who pleaded no contest to the charges, will remain in the psychiatric facility until the court deems him fit for release.

The boy attacked bus driver Michelle Nix March 3 while she was driving students to a school at the county juvenile home in Kalamazoo. Video from the bus shows the teen striking Nix, 37, 18 times in the head, face and neck within 25 seconds.

Other students on the bus told authorities that the boy began beating Nix because he wasn’t happy with her driving. Nix suffered contusions on her face, neck and head. She required six stitches in her lip and suffered a broken hand.
