Depeche Mode lead singer Davd Gahan was rushed to a
hospital in Athens, Greece after falling ill Tuesday.
The band was forced to cancel a concert at the last
minute as Gahan, 47, remained in a private clinic for treatment of “suspected
gastroenteritis.”
“We regret today’s performance has to be canceled…David
Gahan fell ill in his dressing room,” a concert organizer told the audience of
20,000 at the Terra Vibe park.
The concert was a part of Depeche Mode’s Tour of the
Universe for their new album, ‘Sounds of the Universe.’ They have shows
scheduled through February 2010.
Details on Gahan’s condition were not available. It is
unclear if any other dates will be canceled.
