Maryland Terrapins Beat Miami Hurricanes in Back and Forth Game

On the night of Labor Day two teams with new coaches squared off in the rain and played a back and forth game that say Maryland triumph over Miami (FL) 32-24. Randy Edsall's Terps took the lead with a 32 yard field goal by Nick Ferrara with 1:39 left in the fourth quarter.

Al Golden's Hurricanes showed plenty of fight in the game after several of their players were suspended recently in light of recruiting violations committed by a booster over the last decade. The defense allowed Maryland quarterback Danny O'Brien to throw for 348 yards and a touchdown. Despite the numbers, the Canes were driving behind newly promoted quarterback Stephen Morris with under a minute remaining in the game and down by two. On a fourth and four Morris threw an interception to Cameron Chism who returned the ball 54 yards for a touchdown.

The Terrapins racked up plenty of offensive plays and made it to the Miami eleven or closer six separate times. They were only able to convert one of those drives into a touchdown and left twice without scoring any points.
