Teenagers dream of the day they can get behind the wheel, but their enthusiasm quickly diminishes when they realize that their classes consist of hours of boring classroom instruction from a droning professor. Recognizing that students retain more information when it is provided in a stimulating manner, The Driver Training Group this week announced its new online course for California students titled “Hit the Road.”
“Our goal is to help every teen that finishes the course to remain collision-free for their entire life, and we find that keeping them engaged and interested in the material is the best way to make this a reality,” said Rick McNeely, director of interactive marketing at The Driver Training Group. “We all share a passion for safe driving, and it's our hope that future students will as well.”
The
California driver’s ed online course is the outcome of teaching over 10,000 students how to drive safely. It focuses on evidence-based research to help students gain independence and learn in a fun manner. The online road trip strips away the thick veil of academia while providing a challenging outlet for driving students to learn from some of the most respected figures in the driving industry.
“Some other driver’s ed courses are condescending and they teach in a way that makes teenagers feel like they are being preached to,” said McNeely. “But we like to take a different approach that is ironic, curious, sarcastic and interactive. Teens are excited about driving, and we like to keep it that way while teaching how to be collision free.”
New among their other
online driver’s ed classes, “Hit the Road” is a 30-hour online road trip that teaches everything from basic seat adjustments to complex maneuvers like parallel parking. The course is now available to California students and has been approved by the California Department of Motor Vehicles, satisfying all the requirements for obtaining a permit.
