A German shepherd mix is credited with saving another dog’s
life this week in New York City. The dog’s mother, a golden lab, was injured
after being hit by a car on the Major Deegan Expressway. The German shepherd ran
circles around his mother, barking at cars and authorities in an attempt to
keep them away.
Police were finally able to get the lab into a police car
and took her to a veterinary clinic. Authorities were unable to catch the
German shepherd, but were able to herd him off the expressway and up an exit
ramp.
The dogs’ owner saw the drama on TV and rushed to the
clinic. Both dogs live together with their owner in the Bronx. The German
shepherd is now back at home and his mother is expected to recover from her
injuries.
