Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament and a band employee were
mugged outside a recording studio in Atlanta last month. Police say Ament and
Mark Anthony Smith were attacked and robbed April 27 outside of Southern Track
Recordings.
Three men wearing masks and carrying knives walked out of
a nearby wooded area and attacked Ament and Smith. They smashed the windows of
the pair's rented Jeep Commander and got away with more than $7,300 in goods and
cash.
Ament suffered “some lacerations” to his head and was
treated at the scene. “At this time detectives believe the victims were not
specifically targeted. But they believe the suspects were familiar with the
studio because of its isolated location,” said Mekka Parish, a public
information officer with the Dekalb police department.
The suspects were caught on surveillance footage but
police have been unable to identify them because of their masks.
According to Rolling Stone, Pearl Jam is recording a new
album with producer Brendan O’Brien, who works at Southern Tracks.
