US Mens Soccer Team Falls to Belgium as Klinsmann Remains Winless

Jurgen Klinsmann has spent three games as head coach of the United States Men's National Team. Yesterday he took his squad on the road for the first time and played Belgium in a rainy game and lost 1-0 to remain winless. Nicolas Lombaerts scored the only goal in the 55th minute to put the Belgians ahead.

Klinsmann thought that it was an interesting game for both the USA and Belgium. "For the first 25 minutes the U.S. had a good passing game going," he said, "but then the individual Belgian class started to show. The players have learned a lot from the game."

At the game's heart it was a learning experience for both the U.S. players and Klinsmann. He is still experimenting with the players and the lineups that he is goingn to use for the next World Cup, qualifiers for which begin in June. The record of the team in these international friendlies don't count for much and are seemingly being used for talent evaluation by Klinsmann.
