Alta Mira Treatment Programs, a dual diagnosis facility, is hosting a workshop for family codependency May 14-17, 2009 with guest speaker Alan Massey.
Massey spent 17 years at the Betty Ford Center working with families of alcoholics and addicts to heal themselves and their family relationships. He also trained inpatient counselors to better understand the needs of family members and the reality of the family system’s impact on chemical dependency.
Massey’s latest publication, “Sponsorship, the Key to My Sobriety,” can be found in Andrew Martin’s Point of Return, a book compiling fourteen individual’s stories about addiction and their turning point into long-term recovery and the one thing that mattered most to a successful recovery effort.
