Teenager Attempts to Rob North Carolina Store with Banana

A North Carolina teenager attempted to rob a Winston-Salem store with noting more than a banana and after he was tackled by the owner the 17-year-old ate the “weapon” before police could arrive.

John Szwalla entered the store with the banana concealed under his shirt and told the owner, Bobby Ray Mabe, that he had a gun and then demanded money. Mabe, along with a customer, jumped Szwalla and then called police. While waiting for authorities to arrive Szwalla ate the banana but police took pictures of the banana peel for evidence.

Szwalla is now facing charges of attempted arm robbery.
