San Diego Golf Tournament Seeks Volunteers

Volunteers are needed in San Diego for the U.S. Putting Tour's national golf championship being held September 26 through October 2 at The Crossings in Carlsbad.

Volunteer help is required in scoring, rules officiating, crowd management, and player relations, according to USPT president, Jim Hartley. While familiarity with golf is preferred, Hartley said it's not mandatory.

"This will be a fun golf tournament to be a part of as a volunteer," said Hartley. "The entire championship takes place on the primary practice green at The Crossings, so our volunteers will be in on all the action."

Hartley said that individuals interested in volunteering can first learn more by going to the website for the golf tournament, then by emailing the event at info@usputtingtour.com. He indicated that the USPT will welcome volunteers who can give even a few hours of their time.

One aspect of volunteer support that will be critical will be tracking scoring during the final 36-hole round of putting on Sunday afternoon. The USPT will update the leaderboard for the putting championship after every 12 holes.

Mr. Hartley said he expects over 200 golfers to participate in the San Diego golf event. Golfers can enter right up until tournament time at the USPT website and during tournament week in person at The Crossings.
