Academic Summer Camps Starting To Fill Up

Despite a slow start to the summer camp enrollment season, one academic summer camp is seeing a big upturn in enrollments in May

SuperCamp announced today that some of its academic summer camps are now full and that several more of its ten-day summer enrichment sessions are down to a few available spots.

"While many parents waited on the sidelines through the early part of the year, they know that if they wait much longer, they will be out of options," explained SuperCamp president, Bobbi DePorter.

Ms. DePorter cited two additional reasons why a large number of families are choosing now to enroll in SuperCamp. The company recently has been promoting the year-round support SuperCamp grads receive, which includes video tutorials and an on-call SuperCamp facilitator.

In addition, families that enroll a student in SuperCamp in May receive Extra Credit Savings that include a 2009 price freeze for the life of the student, incremental savings when enrolling with a sibling or a friend, product discounts, and a referral program.

Another reason, which accounts for the growth in the
summer enrichment program over its 28-year history is the results seen in and achieved by the students who attend. Studies have shown that they increase grades in the year following camp. Additionally, a recent survey of over 150 SuperCamp grads indicated that 88 percent of them attend college immediately after high school versus the national average of 65 percent of high school grads.

Among
teen summer camps, SuperCamp also does an outstanding job of preparing high school students for college with the life skills portion of the curriculum. These life skills complement the academic skills the students also acquire at SuperCamp. The life skills help students develop their communication and leadership skills and provide them with principles to live by in the form of the 8 Keys of Excellence.
