Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Address U.S. House and Senate Leaders Regarding Middle East

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be traveling to Capitol Hill on Tuesday where he will speak with U.S. House and Senate leaders regarding a possible solution for a lasting peace deal in the Middle East.

That peace deal was at the center of discussions between Netanyahu and President Barack Obama on Monday with Obama clearly supporting the creation of an independent Palestinian state. While Netanyahu has not fully endorsed that proposal he has shown signs of willingness, but that comes with several stipulations.

Netanyahu, along with several of the nationalist and religious parties of Israel, have opposed an independent Palestine as long as Islamic militants continue to launch attacks and Palestinians refuse to recognize Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state.

Along with a Middle East peace agreement Netanyahu will likely take the opportunity to gain support for action against Iran which continues to build its nuclear arsenal and poses a serious threat to Isarel.
