Nothing says "I love you, Dad" quite like a homemade gift for Father’s Day. Here are some easy projects you can do with your kids.
Take an empty soup or vegetable can, remove the label and clean it well. Tear little pieces of masking tape and place them horizontally around the can, leaving the rough edges. Use a rag to wipe brown shoe polish over the tape, use another rag to wipe off the excess polish. The finished product has the look of leathery bark and makes a great pencil holder.
Make Father’s Day a noteworthy event with a nifty notebook. Help your child cut out construction paper covers and blank inside pages using a cardboard template of something Dad likes, such as a car or a fish. Punch holes in one end and fasten with string.
Handprints are another favorite. Use water-based paint to place your child’s handprint on a piece of paper or card stock. Once the paint is dry, your child can use a marker to write five reasons he or she loves Dad, such as "He takes me to the park." Use the image to create a card or a piece of wall art.
Not crafty? No worries.
