A group of Maoist rebels ambushed a group of police in India’s western state of Maharashtra, killing all 16 officers in the attack.

The ambush occurred near a rebel stronghold in Nagpur close to the border with the state of Chhattisgarh, an area known for Maoist activity. A police official confirmed the attack and stated that the ambush on the officers left no survivors.
