Monaco Grand Prix, Famed Formula One Race, Takes Place Sunday in Monte Carlo

The Monaco Grand Prix, the world-renowned Formula One racing event, will take place on Sunday at 8 a.m. ET at the Circuit de Monaco in Monte Carlo.

The Monaco Grand Prix, also referred to as the Grand Prix de Monaco, is the sixth leg of the Formula One season, but is widely considered the most important in Formula One racing. This marks the 72nd running of the famous Grand Prix.

The Monaco Grand Prix is considered one of the Triple Crown of Motorsport, along with the Indianapolis 500 and 24 Hours of Le Mans. Like the Monaco Grand Prix, the Indy 500 will also take place on Sunday during Memorial Day weekend.

In the Formula One standings, Brawn driver Jenson Button leads the Drivers Championship by 14 points over teammate Rubens Barrichello, having claimed 41 out of a possible 45 points . Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull) trails Barrichello by four points, while World Champion Lewis Hamilton (McLaren) lies in seventh place with nine points.

Brawn leads the Constructors' Championship by 29.5 points over Red Bull, who are a further 12 points ahead of Toyota. McLaren is the only other team to have reached double-figures in points, while Force India are the only team yet to score points.

Last year, Hamilton won the Monaco Grand Prix, followed by Robert Kubica (BMW Sauber) and Felipe Massa (Ferrari).
