College Prep Is More Than Just SAT and ACT Prep
College prep camps also can help with college admission, according to a summer enrichment program for high school students that focuses on learning and life skills to prepare students for success in college.
SuperCamp, which runs pre-teen and teen summer camps across the U.S. reports that 88 percent of SuperCamp graduates who responded to a recent online survey indicated they went on to college after high school. This figure compares to 65 percent of the high school senior population nationwide, as reported by the U.S. Department of Education.
In this same survey, 41 percent of SuperCamp grads indicated they received some form of college scholarship. Of these individuals 57 percent said they received $10,000 or more.
College prep, therefore, is much more than SAT or ACT prep at SuperCamp. The learning skills help students with their grades, as well as their writing ability, reading efficiency, critical thinking and problem solving. The life skills help students with their communication and interpersonal skills, which can be a huge component of the college preparation process.
Another element of SuperCamp's college preparation curriculum is the 8 Keys of Excellence, eight principles for life that campers learn throughout the ten-day camp. These 8 Keys teach students about failure leading to success, making the most from each moment, speaking with good purpose, and so much more.
SuperCamp develops the whole person, not just one aspect such as SAT-test readiness. By doing so, the program helps create a well-rounded high school student, which in turn, goes a long way in preparing a students for college.
