A NEW MOVEMENT

Local Art Group to Hold Show in Downtown Detroit

Laura Deljanin of Laurette Designs is on a roll with her contributions to the art scene in Detroit. Deljanin, an Artist, is assembling another in a series of high caliber, polished shows with a group of talented local Artists who will be displaying new work. The newest show, A New Movement, will be held at the notable Studio 555 Gallery located at 5716 Michigan Avenue in Detroit. The Opening Reception is scheduled for May 23, 2009 beginning at 7 PM and the show will run on Thursdays 7-10 PM, Saturdays 12-6 PM and by appointment through June 13. The theme of this show plays homage to the international Movement Festival which originated in Detroit. The festival runs all weekend in Downtown Detroit, just down Grand River from this Gallery.

Now is also the best time to visit the Studio 555 Gallery in Detroit because its renovation was just unveiled at a grand re-opening held on May 16, 2009. This respected organization has been operating since the early 1970’s and is known for its non-profit contributions to the city of Detroit, such as holding art camps for students of low income homes, along with holding classes and workshops for professional and budding Artists.

Deljanin’s drive for creating significant art events has been proven with a series of notable shows that include music, food, atmosphere, fashion and multi-media art displays. Her impact to the art scene in Detroit is also driving the Artist community to build their artforms from a hobby to a profession.

This creative network has provided considerable opportunities for networking and leveraging talent in an atmosphere that resembles a co-op with much participation from the group. For example, notable Artist Ted Cantu of HotMetroFinds.com has provided publicity videos and web coverage and Abstract Oil Painter, Tracey Vitkay, has supported these events with other publicity work. Other contributions have come from local photographers, restaurants, fashion designers and the list goes on. Each Artist in this network has an opportunity to simply display their work, but many step forward to ensure that each event is a success. None of it would be possible without the event coordination of Laura Deljanin who has managed each event in its entirety.
