NBA Eastern Conference Finals Schedule: Orlando Magic Look for Series Advantage Against Cleveland Cavaliers

The Orlando Magic were one second away from holding a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven Eastern Conference Finals series with the Cleveland Cavaliers but then LeBron James stepped up, buried a three-pointer and in all likelihood saved his squad’s season and now the two teams meet in Florida on Sunday tied 1-1.

Orlando will have to put Friday’s stunning loss behind them as they host the Cavaliers in Game 3 and while the loss was certainly a setback they had plenty of positives to take from their two-game split in Cleveland.

The Magic’s defense has done a remarkable job against LeBron’s supporting cast as Mo Williams and Delonte West have struggled from the perimeter, allowing Orlando to drop deeper into the paint and force Cleveland into more jumpers. While LeBron has been phenomenal thus far the Magic knew going in there was little they could do to stop the NBA MVP and they have opted to focus on the rest of the Cleveland offense.

Fortunately for Orlando that has worked to this point but Williams and West are capable of heating up and they will need to continue to pressure the Cavaliers guards into bad shots and turnovers. As for the Magic offense it has been clear that they pose a number of challenges for Cleveland. With Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu causing matchup problems and Dwight Howard continuing to clean up on the bords it appears odd that the Cavaliers were the heavy favorite when the series started.

That attitude could change quickly on Sunday as the two teams meet and if Orlando can open the game with a strong performance from the perimeter the Cavaliers could be in for a long day.
