Andy Roddick needed just over an hour and a half to knock off Romain Jouan at the French Open on Monday as the American collected a straight set 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 victory at Roland Garros and will now advance to the second round.
Roddick looked sharp as he hammered out 11 aces and placed 77 percent of his first serves in play while committing just eight unforced errors against Jouan. At the end of the day Jouan just had no chance against Roddick’s serve as the number six-seed won 85 percent of his first serves and 79 percent of his second, never allowing a break point opportunity.
Roddick has one Grand Slam singles title, the 2003 U.S. Open, while he has reached two Wimbledon finals and the U.S. Open finals in 2006, all three finals losses came at the hands of Roger Federer. His best finish at the French Open was a third-round appearance in 2001.
