Cal State San Marcos Hosts Summer Enrichment Program for Kids and Teens

SuperCamp, a summer enrichment program for students ages 11 to 19, establishes its prominence in the state of California by providing Northern California camps at Stanford University and Southern California camps at Cal State San Marcos in north San Diego County. Featured at both Stanford and Cal State San Marcos are SuperCamp’s two most popular programs, Junior Forum and Senior Forum.

Cal State San Marcos, which is the newest of SuperCamp’s seven regional program sites across the country, is the higher education leader in the northern San Diego region, fostering quality of life through lifelong personal growth and sustainable community development. The campus, which has been in existence since 1980, is infused with boundless optimism as it prepares to meet the higher education needs of one of the nations top five largest growing regions.

Junior Forum, which is designed to teach students entering grades 6 through 8 academic and personal enrichment skills to help them be more successful inside and outside the classroom, is offered this summer July 10 – 19. During this 10-day session, students discover their individual learning styles and develop skills for dealing with a heavier academic and social schedule. They also participate in “real-life” activities that enable them to make responsible choices and win the support, understanding, and guidance of their teachers, parents, and peers.

SuperCamp’s high school program, Senior Forum, is also offered at the northern San Diego County site, from July 22 – 31. Senior Forum students learn to make the most of every moment, uncover their unique abilities, and develop greater confidence, while mastering strategies for academic and personal success. The skills campers learn through the Senior Forum program help to ease school stress, build study skills, improve grades, and increase test scores, including the SAT and ACT.  Students also learn life skills that encourage them to discover their strengths, pursue goals, make big decisions, solve problems, and resolve conflicts. This program is designed for students entering grades 9 through 12 in the fall and offers lessons in leadership-building as well.

Also featured at the Cal State San Marcos site is SuperCamp’s unique summer program for parents, called Parent Weekend, from July 17-19. At Parent Weekend, parents of SuperCamp students can experience SuperCamp for themselves through an action-packed 3-day weekend specifically designed just for them. These parent support camps help parents understand more about the academic and life skills their children learn at SuperCamp, which allows parents to better relate to and support their teens following SuperCamp, and allows parents to appreciate their child’s accomplishments even more.
