Ana
Ivanovic continued her push to repeat at the French Open on Wednesday as she
cruised past Tamarine Tanasugarn in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 to advance to the third
round at Roland Garros.
Ivanovic
needed just 1:05 to dispatch Tanasugarn as she had complete control of her
serve, placing 76 percent of her first offerings in play and winning 64 percent
of those while 62 percent of her second serves result in points. Ivanovic
collected 32 winners in the match while Tanasugarn managed just 10 on the day.
Ivanovic
won her first Grand Slam singles title last year when she beat Dinara Safina at
the French Open. She reached the finals at Roland Garros in 2007 but fell to
Justine Henin and she has managed to reach the finals at the Australian Open in
2008 but lost to Maria Sharapova.
