Summer Enrichment Program a Proven Success at Wake Forest University

Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina has played host to many academic and cultural successes throughout the school’s existence. One such success has been the repeated hosting of SuperCamp, a summer enrichment program for kids and teens that teaches 21st-century skills and encourages youth development and life preparation each summer.

SuperCamp’s
North Carolina summer camps are located at the foot of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. More than 40 buildings of Georgian architecture constructed of Ole Virginia brick, grace the campus amid magnolias, pines, and colorful year-round blossoms. Wake Forest values excellent teaching, high academic standards, superior resources, and an appreciation for the lifelong journey of learning based in a liberal arts education.

Programs offered at SuperCamp’s Wake Forest location include both Senior Forum for high school-aged teens, and Junior Forum for students entering grades 6 through 8 in the fall. Additionally, the Wake Forest summer camps include a Parent Weekend program for parents of SuperCamp participants.

Junior Forum, which is designed to teach middle school students academic and personal enrichment skills to help them be more successful inside and outside the classroom, is offered from July 12 – 21. During this 10-day session, students discover their individual learning styles and develop skills for dealing with a heavier academic and social schedule. They also participate in “real-life” activities that teach them to make responsible choices and win the support, understanding, and guidance of their teachers, parents, and peers.

For high school students, Senior Forum offers tools necessary to make the most of every moment, uncover their unique abilities, and develop greater confidence, while mastering strategies for personal and academic success. The skills that students learn through the Senior Forum program help to ease school stress, build study skills, improve grades, and increase test scores, including the SAT and ACT.  Students also learn life skills that encourage them to discover their strengths, pursue goals, make big decisions, solve problems, and resolve conflicts. Senior Forum is hosted from July 10 – 19, and again from August 3 – 12 at Wake Forest University this summer.

Parent Weekend will be featured from July 17 – 19 and will allow parents of SuperCamp students the opportunity to experience for themselves the same knowledge their children are receiving through an action-packed 3-day weekend. These parent support camps help parents understand more about the academic and life skills their children are learning at SuperCamp. This allows parents to better relate to and support their teens following SuperCamp, and allows parents to appreciate their child’s accomplishments even more.
