Honduras Earthquake Leaves 1 Dead, Sparks Tsunami Watch

A powerful earthquake struck Honduras and Belize Thursday, leaving at least one man dead and buildings damaged.

The 7.1 magnitude earthquake struck at 3:24 am. One fatality was reported in La Lima, which is located about 120 miles north of the capital Tegucigalpa. Homes were destroyed while other structures suffered cracks in its walls. Roads in many cities were also cracked. Electricity is out in many areas.

The epicenter of the quake was located about 80 miles northeast of La Ceiba, Honduras. A tsunami watch was issued for Belize and Guatemala but was later lifted.
