Suicide Blast at Iranian Mosque Kills at least 15

A suicide bombing at a mosque in southeastern Iran has left at least 15 people dead and more than 50 injured.

The attack occurred in Zahedan, the provincial capital of Sistan-Baluchestan, while evening prayers were being held at the Sunni mosque Amir al-Mohini. Part of the mosque was destroyed in the blast and rescue crews were digging through rubble to find the bodies of the victims.

Attacks within the province are common as it borders Afghanistan and Pakistan and is major route in the drug trade. Along with the heavily armed drug gangs Sistan-Baluchestan is home to militants who often attack government forces.
