What are benzodiazepines?
Benzodiazepines are a specific category of psychoactive drugs that are commonly classified as tranquilizers. They oftentimes shortened to “benzos” and are prescribed to treat anxiety, insomnia, and panic attacks. Unfortunately, they are abused recreationally and are readily available on the street. Additionally, they are one of the most heavily prescribed meds where behavioral and psychological disorders are concerned. The DEA includes them in their illegally trafficked prescribed medications category so they are considered a primary drug threat in the US today.

The alternative facility is a homelike environment set in a residential setting which is more comforting and inviting than the clinic or hospital like traditional facility is. The appearance of the traditional center is very cold and oftentimes intimidating to the addicted individual.
As a result, more individuals needing help for their dependency benefit when undergoing a benzodiazepine addiction treatment at one of these alternative facilities. There are a number of reasons for this aside from the residential setting that the alternative addiction treatment and recovery center provides their clients with. The alternative facility addresses the emotional and mental levels of the addiction as well as the physical level and at times there are behavioral disorders or other psychological issues at the root of the addiction.
The failure of the traditional facility rests in the fact that they treat every individual the same and take a one-size-fits-all approach to drug addiction. As a result of this, the true needs of the addicted individual usually aren’t met and they wind up relapsing back into their addiction once they return home to their communities.
