Venus
Williams will have to wait at last another year before capturing her first
French Open singles title after she was stunned by Hungary’s Agnes Szavay 6-0,
6-4 on Friday.
Szavay
only put 57 percent of her first serves in play and didn’t record a single ace
but she was all over the service game of Venus Williams as the American won
just 51 percent of her first serves and 35 percent of her second. Szavay broke
Venus on five of 10 opportunities while seeing her serve broken just once.
Szavay
has yet to capture a Grand Slam singles title and her best finish at the French
Open was a third round appearance last year. The 20-year-old reached the fourth
round at Wimbledon last year.
