President Barack Obama Announces Plans to Secure American Computer Networks

U.S. President Barack Obama has announced plans to cyber security office in the White House as a means of securing American computer networks against cyber attacks.

The cyber security office would be responsible for protecting the digital infrastructure of America, thwarting hackers and possible terrorist activity. As part of that cyber security office Obama also announced he would be appointing a “cyber tsar” to oversee the new office.

Obama spoke about the need for a cyber security office as he pointed out that terrorists were now making a concentrated effort to target the digital infrastructure of the U.S. The President noted that terror could come “not only from a few extremists in suicide vests, but from a few key strokes of a computer - a weapon of mass disruption.”

Obama went on to say, “It is now clear this cyber threat is one of the most serious economic and national security challenges we face as a nation.”
