French Open 2009 Round 4 Results: Dinara Safina into Quarterfinals with Easy Win Over Aravane Rezai at Roland Garros

Dinara Safina remained on track for her first career Grand Slam singles title on Sunday as the Russian breezed past Aravane Rezai in straight sets 6-1, 6-0 to advance to the quarterfinals at the French Open.

Safina needed just 53 minutes to dispatch Rezai who was clearly overmatched. The number-one seed won 77 percent of her first serves put in play and collected 12 winners compared to just four for Rezai. The Frenchwoman had a terrible time with her serve, winning just 36 percent of her first serves put in play and committing four double-faults.

Safina reached the finals of the French Open last year but fell to Ana Ivanovic. In 2009 she reached the finals at the Australian Open but again fell, this time to Serena Williams. Despite never winning a Grand Slam singles title Safina reached number one in the rankings on April 27, 2009.
