Alcohol Rehab Boston

Despite Melanie’s Law lowering repeat drunk driver offenders, there is still a need for effective alcohol rehabilitation in the Boston area.

Melanie's Law, signed by Governor Mitt Romney on Oct. 28, 2005, is named in honor of 13-year-old Melanie Powell who was killed by a drunk driver in 2003. This law has had a dramatic impact on lowering the number of multiple repeat offenders getting behind the wheel after having been drinking. Boston now needs to take preventative measures for those considering using alcohol/drugs and for those already caught in the downward spiral of alcohol addiction. Narconon Arrowhead is aware of this problem and has a rehabilitation program that handles all aspects of alcohol addiction with a success rate of over 70% and free educational materials concerning alcohol addiction.

A person’s inhibitions and ability to make correct judgments is lowered by alcohol. It also causes a loss in motor control skills in an individual. The most common age group for driving after alcohol consumption are those aged 21-34. This shows a dire need for alcohol education for our youth to prevent them from drinking and/or getting behind the wheel if having been drinking.

Some things parents can do to prevent their children from drinking are to establish a strong communication line with your children. Be the person they can come to with a problem rather than reacting and help them figure out a solution to that problem. You want to be open and honest when speaking with your children about alcohol addiction and communicate with them on a level which they can understand. This is of the utmost importance because younger individuals who try alcohol are more likely to experiment with drugs. Give your children an answer for a way out when offered a drink, i.e. I am trying out for the baseball team and need to stay in shape. Practice answers with your children so when they are asked to join in drinking and/or drugging they will answer confidently and without hesitation that they have no desire to join in.

Having Boston youth educated on the dangers and consequences of alcohol and drinking and driving will allow them to achieve their goals and dreams. Narconon Arrowhead wants to make sure the Boston’s youth have every opportunity to flourish as they become young adults working in the community. This is why Narconon Arrowhead has our drug educational specialist travel to Boston and speak with the youth in Boston schools about the dangers and realities of alcohol abuse. The best defense against any addiction is knowledge.
