Registered dietitian Jayson Hunter reveals some of the best healthy eating guidelines for baby boomers to stay fit and remain healthy. He believes that most baby boomers have realized the importance of following healthy eating guidelines so that they can remain healthy and reduce their medical expenses as they go into retirement.
Jayson explains, “With the increasing costs of healthcare, people are becoming more conscious of maintaining good health. They have understood that sticking to simple healthy eating guidelines is beneficial to them in the long run”. He adds, “For baby bombers, healthy eating guidelines can be effectively combined with a structured exercise and diet plan to ensure that they remain healthy and reduce their healthcare costs”.
Here are some of Hunter’s healthy eating guidelines for baby boomers:
1) Healthy eating guideline #1 – Ensure that you eat small and frequent meals. Also, make sure most of these meals are cooked at home in a healthy way. Try to eat about 6 small meals every 2-3 hours on a daily basis. This will give your body’s metabolism a boost throughout the day.
2) Healthy eating guideline #2 – Water is about 70% of the human body. It is not surprising then that drinking about 8-10 glasses of water a day will keep you healthy. Start your day by drinking a glass of water, this helps cleanse the system of toxins and provides the perfect start to the day.
3) Healthy eating guideline #3 – Fruits and vegetables are a powerhouse of vitamins and minerals essential for our bodies. Try to include about 3-4 servings of fruits and vegetables in your daily diet.
