New York Giants Defeat St. Louis Rams in Sloppy Monday Night Game
The New York Giants won the Monday Night Football game over the St. Louis Rams 28-16. The game should have been much closer but miscues by the Rams allowed the Giants to take advantage of field position and turnovers to put the game away.
Giants quarterback Eli Manning threw for two touchdowns and the defense scored another as the Rams could not get their act together. Every one of New York's touchdowns were a direct result of a St. Louis mistake. The first touchdown came after a muffed punt was recovered by the Giants. The second came after a blown coverage and a great catch by receiver Domenik Hixon. Linebacker Michael Boley scored on a return when a lateral pass was not caught or recovered by the Rams. The Giants last touchdown resulted after a drive was extended on a pass interference call on third down.
The Rams were able to move the ball down the field until they got close to the end zone. They settled for three field goals after being stopped inside the Giants 10 yard line. By halftime the Giants had built a 21-6 lead and would not be threatened for the rest of the game.
