New Cheapism.com Research Identifies the Best Cheap Smartphones for Frugal Cell Users

Top picks under $50 include the super-fast HTC Evo 4G and the Samsung Epic 4G. Both boast top-notch displays, multimedia prowess, and good call quality.

It’s virtually impossible to go without a smartphone these days, so Cheapism answers the call from frugal smartphone shoppers with a list of the best cheap smartphones. The only review site dedicated to finding quality low-cost products, Cheapism scoured technical specs and expert reviews and found four high-quality options among the cheapest smartphones. Budget-conscious shoppers searching for a smartphone under $50 (with a new contract) will like the HTC Droid Incredible 2 for its exceptional call clarity and battery life. The HTC Evo 4G will seem like a steal to consumers seeking superior multimedia performance. Those looking for an excellent display will be pleased with the Samsung Epic 4G, while the email and messaging strengths of the BlackBerry Curve 3G will appeal to others.

To compile its list, Cheapism evaluated features and performance. Three of the top spots are filled by cheap Android phones: The HTC Droid Incredible 2 and HTC Evo 4G feature high-quality cameras that shoot 8 MP photos, and the Samsung Epic 4G boasts a bright display and pull-out keyboard. The BlackBerry Curve 3G also comes with a physical keyboard. Based on expert and user reviews, Cheapism’s smartphones buying guide reports that the best cheap smartphones provide full and fast web-browsing ability, high-resolution photo quality, decent battery life, and good call quality. The coveted Apple iPhone is available in this price range but did not make the list of best cheap smartphones. Cheapism concluded that even the cheap price of the older-generation Apple iPhone 3GS 8GB did not compensate for mediocre call quality and comparatively unimpressive features.
