Mosque Bombing in Northwestern Pakistan Kills at least 30

A suicide bomber detonated an explosive at a mosque in northwestern Pakistan on Friday, killing at least 30 worshipers and leaving several more injured.

The suicide attack occurred in the Upper Dir district, not far from the Swat valley where intense fighting between Pakistani Taliban and the country’s military has been ongoing. That violence has also been present in the Upper Dir yet the Taliban has not claimed responsibility for the mosque bombing.

While the Taliban has been linked to several suicide bombings there are also those who believe the attack may have been part of the Shia-Sunni sectarian violence.
